FAQs

Can you walk me through a typical prenatal visit?

We meet throughout your pregnancy to discuss your hopes for your birth process, we work through your fears and reservations. We will practice good body mechanics to bring balance to your body to help ease discomfort during pregnancy and prepare for labor. Childbirth education is also included in our prentals.

What are your thoughts on pain medication during labor?

I strongly believe in women's rights and their ability to choose whether they receive pain medication during childbirth or not. Over the years while practicing as a doula I have learned many drug-free pain relief techniques. I love to utilize these methods to avoid medical interventions when possible.

What are some comfort measures you use during labor?

I provide hands-on support and tricks from my doula bag including: Massage, counter pressure, hot and cold therapy, hydro-therapy, aromatherapy, breathwork, and the use of my rebozo.

How do you support partners during labor?

As a doula, I provide guidance and validation to your partner so that they are able to share with you the amazing support you deserve. While always available to be hands-on as much or as little as you desire, Im know when to fade in and out of the background to allow you to experience the special intimate moments that come with welcoming a baby into the world. I do not replace your partner, I simply compliment them!

How do you handle unexpected changes during labor and delivery?

I provide reassurance and perspective to both you and your family, provide up-to-date information regarding your options, and ensure that you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your care.

How do you provide postpartum support to families after the baby is born?

I continue to provide physical, emotional, informational, and hands-on support during the 4th trimester. Following your birth I will stay to assist with breastfeeding. I make sure there is a healthy nutritive latch before I go. Achieving this type of latch during the golden hour increases your chances of a healthy established breastfeeding journey. We also meet for a postpartum appointment within the first 6 weeks.
